Lotus reveals record-breaking order books for the Emira & Eletre

Around 17,000 orders have been placed for the Eletre and Emira worldwide as the company bounces back from big losses

British performance car manufacture, Lotus has announced a record number of Lotus Eletre & Emiras have been ordered during the first half of 2023.

Some 17,000 orders were placed for the Emira sportscar, first released last year and the new Eletre, electric SUV, which was released this summer.

Lotus widely underestimated the popularity of the Emira when it was launched last year as they've had to build an additional 2,200 examples this year - an increase of 381 percent. No wonder there's a two-year waiting list (we waited at least 18 months for ours).

Executives at Lotus should be over the moon with this news, especially when you consider that the company lost £145 million last year, according to Top Gear.

Lotus have broadened its retail reach this year, adding 24 showrooms worldwide for a total of 193 dealerships. This includes entering into the South Korean market, which Lotus believe is a key market for prestige cars.

“We set an ambitious goal in 2018, with the launch of our Vision80 strategy to transform the business from a traditional automotive brand to become an all-electric, luxury, mobility provider in ten years,” states Feng Qingfeng, CEO of Lotus Group. “We have spent the last few years laying the foundations for success and today’s announcement demonstrates that Lotus is no longer the same business that it has been in previous years."
