Mercedes has released its new CLA AMG 35 and 45 S, featuring cosmetic design tweaks and mild-hybrid upgrades.

The 2.0-litre CLA AMG 35 now has the same 48-volt mild hybrid system found in the entry-level CLAs, which adds an extra 13bhp to the engine's output, when under heavy acceleration. It produces 302bhp, 295lb of torque, which helps it achieve 0-60mhp in 4.5 seconds, and it has a top speed of 155mph.

The AMG CLA 45 S, its performance remains the same as the pre-facelift model. It's capable of producing 416bhp and 369 pounds of torque. It'll reach 62 miles per hour from zero in 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 168mph.

Both the CLA 35 and 45 S come with four-wheel drive as standard, however, unlike the CLA 35, the 45 S has a torque vectoring system which divides the engine's power between the front and back axles as well as the rear wheels for the best cornering performance. Cornering is the amount of centrifugal force the car can generate measured in g’s, and expressed as Lateral Acceleration. - Policedriver.com

Both variants of the CLA received redesigned LED headlights, new alloy wheels, new front and rear bumpers and new customisation options for the interior. The Burmester speakers now support Dolby Atmos, for the best surround sound experience. Drivers can also take full advantage of Apple Carplay and Android Auto, as the CLAs feature two 10.25 inch touchscreens on the dashboard.

Mercedes has also launched a special edition variant of the AMG CLA 45 S, called the Street Style Edition. It features a bright orange trim, AMG decals, matte black 19-inch alloy wheels, AMG chequered flag graphics, red callipers, orange accents inside to complement the exterior trim, and the body is finished with exclusive mountain grey mango paint.

The CLA AMG 35 starts at £44,765 and the 45 S starts at £63,515.
