Apple announced that Spatial Audio will come to Mercedes-Benz cars
Apple have announced that Spatial Audio, an iPhone, iPad, Apple TV & Mac feature that creates a surround-sound effect like you get at the cinema or with a home surround sound system when sound can be heard from multiple directions will be coming to cars, starting with Mercedes-Benz. However according to Forbes, Spatial Audio requires the vehicle to either have a Burmester 3D or 4D sound system, an extra that costs around £4,500 to have in a Mercedes. It also requires a £9.99/month subscription to Apple Music.
Apple made the announcement at this years, Paris Motor Show and said that Spatial Audio is now supported by select Mercedes-Benz models including: the latest Mercedes-Maybach, EQS, EQS SUV, EQE, and S-Class models. Apple says More models will follow later.
"The new collaboration builds upon the integration of Dolby Atmos immersive audio in the optional Burmester high-end 4D and 3D sound system offered in Mercedes‑Benz vehicles with the latest MBUX generation.
According to a recent survey, a more than 76% of car drivers say that having a realistic spatial sound is either “important” or “rather important” to them". Said Mercedes-Benz.
