Porsche teases its off-road 911 Dakar ahead of its debut next week at the LA Auto Show

Porsche gives the 911 off-road capabilities

Porsche teased its first official off-road 911, called the Dakar, which is a nod to the first overall victory by Porsche in the Paris-Dakar rally in 1984. The predecessor to the upcoming Dakar was a 911 that had been fitted with an all-wheel-drive system.

The official unveiling of the 911 Dakar will be at the Los Angeles Auto Show on 16th November 2022.

Over 10,000km of rigorous off-road testing

Porsche tested the 911 Dakar in extreme weather conditions and harsh terrain such as on 50-metre sand dunes in Dubai and Morocco in temperatures of up to 45°C or 113°F, the rocky Château de Lastours test track in the south of France, and over "thick ice of the frozen lakes" on testing grounds in Arjeplog, Sweden.

More details such as price, specs, optional extras, and release dates will be announced at the LA Auto Show.
