Porsche announces new K1 Seven seater SUV that will top the most expensive Cayenne

The ultra-luxury SUV is planned for a 2027 release

Luxury German car manufacturer, Porsche has announced a new seven-seat SUV that will sit higher up in Porsche's SUV lineup than its most expensive Cayenne Turbo GT, meaning it will cost more than £150,000.

The large 4x4, codenamed, K1 will come in the form of a "raised coupe" crossover. It will have a 920-volt electrical system that enables ultra-fast charging, a battery with more than 100kWh capacity and a range of more than 435 miles. Porsche will offer versions with single and dual electric motors, capable of up to 751bhp output.

The K1 will compete with cars such as BMW's iX and the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.

Porsche CEO, Oliver Blume described the car as “a very sporting interpretation of an SUV”.

He added:  "This new vehicle concept is designed to offer strong performance and automated driving with the typical Porsche flyline, along with a completely new experience inside the vehicle".

Inside, the K1 will have seating for up to seven people in three rows, as well as a large virtual instrument display and a separate infotainment screen. And it will offer the latest in high performance and rapid charging technology.

The Porsche K1 will be the sixth Porsche electric vehicle (EV) after the Taycan, electric Macan, set to be released next year, Porsche Boxter and Cayman, both set for 2025 release dates, and an electric Cayenne, set to be released in 2026.
